The Wall Street Journal

The Hobbit

Today in the Wall Street Journal Rebecca Howard wrote that US $500 million prequel to The Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit has prompted New Zealand Prime Minister, John Key to be in it. The rest I honestly don't understand, but The hobbit  is a really good story, soooooooooooooo...

check this article out, kofi. it will explain the situation in more detail. seems like john key is trying to keep the movie-makers from taking the filming project out of the country. I think the film producers were threatening to move the filming elsewhere because of union concerns about how the actors and staff of the movie were being treated. you have to read for more details... love, mom

  2. This IS an interesting article Kofi. I read a follow up posting as well, and it looks like we'll have to wait until the end of this week to find out if Warner Bros. and the government of New Zealand will get along well enough to keep the deal to make the almost $700 million Hobbit movie in that country.

I was discouraged by the idea that the Actors Equity Union might have accidentally scuttled the filming just by advocating on behalf of the New Zealander actors in the movie.
